The results show that the cost of getting married has increased by 58% in the last 10 years. In this nation-wide survey You & Your Wedding magazine looks at every aspect of weddings from engagements to honeymoons, researching and detailing the habits of brides and grooms throughout the country. And it is not just celebrities who are splashing out this year, You & Your Wedding found that with more and more people deciding to tie the knot, marriage is definitely back in fashion and brides and grooms-to-be are spending more than ever before.

ceremony.

than £6,000 lower than the final total spend.
• 45% of You & Your Wedding readers will be taking out
wedding insurance.
• The average age of a bride is 28 and the average age of
a groom 30.

once married.
Carole Hamilton, editor of You & Your Wedding says, “Whether it’s wedding dresses, flowers or stationary, You & Your Wedding found that people are happily splashing out more than ever before on their weddings. Our survey shows that marriage has never been more fashionable or more expensive, and people are voting with their wallets and prioritising their special day”. “The business of marriage is booming and this coupled with the recent spree of celebrity engagements is sure to make it a great year for weddings.”
Figures have been taken from the 2005 National Magazine Company 'You & Your Wedding' annual survey.
